First, all SWE members are highly encouraged to review the information and video posted at the new SWE governance website, governance.swe.org. Learn how the changes SWE will go through in the next 3-5 years will affect you, your section, and your leadership opportunities in SWE.
Next, on our March 7 Region Council Call, Carrie Ballester announced that she has accepted a job that will take her out of Region C, so she must step down as Region Nominating Committee Chair. Jody Snow volunteered to take her place for the remainder of FY16, and the Region Council voted to install her as the new Region Nominating Committee Chair. Please see the updated Nomination Process website for her contact information and look for your opportunity to serve SWE in FY17!
Nominations for positions on the FY17 Region Ballot (Lt. Governor, Treasurer, Secretary, Region Nominating Committee Chair, and Region Representative to the Society's Nominating Committee) are due to Jody Snow by April 1 - no foolin'! Read my "SWE Leadership Pep Talk" about how more nominees are always better, and that your stepping up to improve your leadership skills also helps us avoid volunteer burnout. We need your help to make the most of our time left in Region C!
We know you all were involved in Outreach activities during E-week and beyond: please submit info about those events to the SWE Outreach Metrics Tool so HQ can see the great work you're doing!
Finally, we are excited to announce that the FY17 Region C Conference will be held in College Station, TX hosted by Texas A&M University SWE! It's been ten years since the Region Conference was hosted there: we're looking forward to returning! Stay tuned to our Region C Website for updates on their planning process.
As always, feel free to email me or any of our Region C officers with your questions or concerns.
